Rock in Rio announced three more participations in the festival taking place in Lisbon in the summer of next year. On June 21st they take the stage The Pretty Reckless, Sepulture and POD.
The Pretty Reckless perform for the first time in Portugal on Palco Mundo, before Cypress Hill. POD, a nu metal band, will be on the Music Valley Stage, joining Sepultura “who celebrate 40 years of career and are currently in their Farewell Tour, announced as the last major tour in the band’s history, for a highly anticipated show”, highlights Rock in Rio, in a statement.
These bands join Linkin Park, Cypress Hill and Grandson, on the “rockiest” day of Rock in Rio. “This day represents a particularly symbolic moment due to its energy, strength and identity: this alignment brings together different generations of rock and metal and celebrates the deep connection that this audience has always had with us,” says Roberta Medina, executive vice-president of Rock in Rio, quoted in a statement.
The Pretty Reckless, with the voice of Taylor Momsen, emerged in 2009with the debut album Light Me Up (2010) and the hits Make Me Wanna Die e Just Tonight, “but it was with Going To Hell (2014) that achieved global projection, entering directly into the Top 5 da Billboard 200 and securing three singles #1 na Billboard Mainstream Rockincluding Heaven Knowsone of the band’s biggest milestones“, highlights the festival organization.
Sepultura are a Brazilian metal band, “with an absolutely legendary status and more than 20 million records sold”says Rock in Rio. They started in 1984, and success arrived with the album Schizophrenia, 1987, and Beneath the Remainsfrom 1989.
“In 1996, they completely challenged rock and metal with their masterpiece Rootswith more than 150 million streams only in Spotify, which brought a profound cultural and aesthetic change by incorporating indigenous percussions and tribal rhythms, redefining the limits of metal”, highlights Rock in Rio.
POD are a quartet from San Diego created in 1992 which includes Sonny Sandoval, Marcos Curiel, Traa Daniels and Wuv Bernardo. They mix hard rock, hip-hop and reggae. THE The band has been nominated three times for the Grammys and has sold more than ten million records.
The first big success came in 1999 with the album The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, but it was the album Satellite (2001) that projected the band worldwide. “The magic was instantaneous: they went straight to 6th place on the Billboard Top 200 and became triple platinum. They were driven by four emblematic singles, which remain to this day: Alive, Youth of the Nation, Boom e Satellite”, highlights Rock in Rio, in a statement.
The festival takes place on the 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th of June 2026, in Cidade do Rock, in Lisbon.
